When Kame stepped out to buy another bottle of red wine for the KAT-TUN/NewS Christmas Eve mash together party, he hadn't really expected anywhere to be open at one am. Nonetheless, he was surprised to find a convenience store just ten minutes from his apartment st which he could make his purchase. Returning however, he realized he was already too late.

Upon opening the front door, he noticed two things right away. One, the apartment was completely dark - there were no lights to indicate anyone was there. And two, there was absolutely no sound. The party of eleven people was silent.

Kame furrowed his elegant brows as he toed off his shoes at the ganken. He proceeded to the kitchen and placed the wine on the counter then made his way cautiously to the living room to find out just what was going on.

Maybe, he thought, feet padding across the floors, they're all hiding and plan to jump out and scare me. Just in case, he peeked around the hallway wall, expecting someone to jump on him or throw something in his face. As his eyes fell on the scene before him, he grinned and stepped around the wall. There was no need for caution.

The room was lit only by the dim glow of the Christmas tree, strings of light criss-crossing the dark green branches, reflecting off shiny baubles and sparkly tinsel, revealing the various members of KAT-TUN and NewS spread out on every possible piece of furniture and then some.

Junno lay, barely fitting on the cushion-y one person chair, his long legs dangling over the side, his still glowing DS hanging limply from his hands, illuminating his sleeping face. Tegoshi and Masuda were (supposedly) a mound of blankets between the chair and the love seat - after a moment's confusion, Kame identified them by their hair, the only thing that was visible under the fluffy whiteness.

Nakamaru and Ueda were nestled together on the recliner on the other side of the room. Maru lay lengthwise, his arms wrapped around Ueda's waist, who was curled up in his lap, head tucked beneath his chin. Ryo and Koki had managed to both sprawl on opposite sides of the couch in a way that didn't seem like they were actually sleeping together - Ryo stretched out on his back, hands behind his head; Koki on his stomach, both arms and a leg dangling off the side.

Koyama and Shige had fallen asleep at the kotatsu, their legs tucked under the heated blanket. Koyama lay across the surface of the kotatsu, using a combination of his arms and some book he'd found as a pillow; Shige had fallen completely to the side on the floor, the blanket clutched in his hands. Jin and Yamapi shared the love seat, their legs tangled together; Yamapi's face was buried against Jin's chest as Jin's arm slung over Yamapi's waist.

In the background, the soft notes of a piano playing "Silent Night" floated across the warm air from the CD player.

Kame stood for several minutes, just staring at the scene, almost laughing out loud. It was so peaceful, and so comfortable, and so them. The little things that brought out their personalities - the way Junno picked the one piece of furniture he didn't fit in, how Jin and Yamapi seemed to fit together like puzzle pieces, the way Ryo's arms folded casually behind him...

Although, he couldn't help but chuckle at the fact that this was probably the quietest he'd seen them (and would ever see them again), all gathered together like this. The song in the background and the Christmas lights, he thought, added a nice touch.

Finally, he moved forward, striding around the room to pick up empty bottles and glasses, quietly so as to not wake anyone up. The glasses he rinsed and put in the sink - there was no room in the dishwasher from dinner earlier and he didn't want to start it for the quietness sake either. The bottles he put next to the door to be recycled in the morning.

He then went back through a second time to collect other odds and ends like bits of wrapping paper and ribbon, bottle caps and wine corks, napkins and plates of hors d'oeuvres that had been eaten earlier. With a damp cloth from the kitchen, he wiped down the kotatsu, going around Koyama's shoulders and arms, stepping over Shige.

Once the living room was clean, he fetched blankets and pillows from his hallways closet. Tegoshi and Masuda, Ryo, Koki and Junno all already had blankets, so he only adjusted them, lifting Koki's leg back on the couch, turning off Junno's DS and placing it on a side table to put a pillow in his hands instead.

He pulled a blanket over Ueda and Nakamaru and tucked a pillow behind Maru's head, as well as beneath Shige's so he wasn't straight on the floor. Koyama was the hardest - Kame had to lift his head to get at the book underneath and replace it with a proper pillow. He thought once he'd woken the other, but Koyama just sighed and turned his other cheek to the fluffy object.

He pulled a blanket over Jin and Yamapi, but didn't bother trying to get between them to add extra pillows because there really wasn't any room. They were doing just fine using each other anyways. Tegoshi and Masuda he discovered after a quick look, already had pillows as well.

Once Kame was satisfied everyone was as comfortable as he could make them, he took a blanket and pillow for himself, settling down at the foot of the recliner and the couch, matching Masuda and Tegoshi's position on the other side.

The room was dark, quiet and warm - the CD had stopped after the last chord of "Silent Night" rang out, leaving silence in its wake.

Kame spared one last thought, What a fangirl wouldn't give to get a picture of this... before laying down himself and closing his eyes. Within minutes, he too, was asleep.
As I lay in my bed, unable to sleep on Christmas Eve night, this little scene popped up in my head. I think it started from me remembering playing Apples to Apples at the living room coffee table with my family earlier that evening, and me wishing it ws actually a kotatsu (because that would be so cool...)

Somehow I got from that to someone sleeping on a kotatsu to Johnny's (probably the Japanese-ness), to Johnny's having a party, to this. The rest of it just kind of built itself around this kotatsu thing. Although, honestly, I put Koyama and Shige at the kotatsu because I didn't know where else to put them...

I could see KAT-TUN and NewS crashing Kame's apartment and having a huge party and then passing out all over each other. (ahahahah...) So we get a little bit of Maruda, Pin, and TegoMassu, but it's all safe.

If anyone would like, feel free to draw this!

A kotatsu is a Japanese floor table that can have its lid removed to place a blanket in. [link]

A ganken is the small area between the front door and the floor of the rest of the house where one puts their shoes.
